Tattoo and Shibari/Kinbaku experience

October 5, 2016

The other day a Model Mayhem male model contacted me about shooting some Time For Pictures shoot. His only request is that his face not be recognizable. They don’t call me Fuzzypictures for nothing, sure I am up for it.

For those who don’t know what Shibari is It’s an ancient Japanese art form developed during the Samari time for bonding their prisoners with rope. It is also referred to as the art of Kinbaku a sensual provocative form of Japanese erotic bondage now becoming popular in America.

That day and still today my flash receivers were acting wooky. Sometimes they worked sometimes not, so exposure was all over the place and I had a lot of over exposed throw aways along with some surprises.

I’ve wanted to add some spooky Images to Peau magazine for the autumn issue sort of as a theme and thought the tattoo’s might do the trick. Who knows what works and what doesn’t?

Tattooed male grasping his head and shoulders.

Dark Zen

I haven’t gotten around to trying to adjust the over exposed images yet and maybe I won’t it’s a lot of work finding interesting people and shooting them then selecting images we both like.

_mg_2603

Dark Zen

We chatted about our likes and dislikes but I never asked him the story of why so many tattoo’s. We did exchange information about who some of the tattoo artists were both his and mine where done as I shot.

_mg_2636

Darkk Zen

If I don’t know and like the person ‘I am out of there.’ I am way too old to be uncomfortable anymore, been there done that. My work is about collaboration with the model around a theme, if there is one, I couldn’t do this type of photography without the model having ‘some chops’ as they say in jazz.

_mg_2683

Dark Zen

I need to fix those strobes but this White Lightning 1200 Ultra keeps on kicking, I’ve only two left out of four but what a light.I didn’t need to give him much if any direction as he does this out of love also. I did show him images as we went along so he had an idea of what I was shooting.

_mg_2703

Bamboo pole

We fooled around with this pole for awhile but it didn’t do anything for me not that we didn’t get some interesting shots of his hands holding the pole but I wanted some more so ‘Hey lets try this’ my favorite saying.

Detail

I am reading a book called The Beauty of Kinbaku a history of the art and artists which got me thinking about what’s Japanese and one of the first think that comes to mind is Bamboo, so I go down to the flower district and find some. Who knew there was a vicious spider living in them and bit me on the elbow while I napped. Yeow some poison I sprayed the whole lot. I don’t like to kill spiders but he attacked me first.

_mg_2745

Dark Zen

Well I’ve saved the best for last, although they were the first images we shot we both loved all of these but the first images blew me away. I looked at them and said ‘that’s it.’ I am not sure I could have planed them any better.

_mg_2552

But wait there is more, our first picture below.

_mg_2578

What am I holding?

Yep that Ultra 1200 is something. This is from one of our first images sets. See I couldn’t do this without someone aware of the creative process.

There is always something else

September 9, 2016

to do. There was a time I had plenty of time to write here but now so many dangling projects. Finally got the summer issue of Peau magazine is on it’s way, see link http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/1159494

Of course a model asked me for a digital tear sheet and I spent days looking up how to do to no avail, nothing. Just now it occurred to me maybe she wanted a ‘screen shot’ of the Peau pages. Life is full of difficult question made more by how the question is phrased.

But persistence always pays off somehow. My wife is turning into a very creative photographer I am impressed with her creativity see https://maryduranteyoutt.wordpress.com. She has found her niche at least with the underwater photography and climate change.

Me after publishing the summer Issue of Peau magazine I am drained yet it’s time to start again as I have a theme Halloween. I really haven’t up dated my web site at Photoshelter in months.

I started the day wearing my Occupy Wall Street t-shirt and listening to native american tapes I’ve collected along the way. Doing laundry moved to listening to Phantom of the Opera just to get my blood moving. Now it’s Man of La Manch.

The other day a french model Byuruka Heck contacted me about shooting together when she was in town. Hey why not I’ve been in front of a computer for weeks. To say nothing of home projects.

So we began doing shoots and talking she wanted some fashion images
but the latex dress didn’t cooperate with the shoes.

This can be messy an disappointing at the same time. But that’s the exciting part of it, you never know what will happen, except a shower afterwards.

I want to do more of this as I learn something each time.Till next time

Peau magazine spring issue

May 3, 2016

Well Peau magazine is more than a one shot magazine as we’ve put together another issue, our spring 2016 issue on time. Our goal is to publish a quarterly magazine or at least see if there is interest from different collaborators to submit creative photographic work.

The spring issue has work from America and Europe.

Peau magazine is an international collaboration of artists, photographers and models coming together to show their work to our increasing shrinking planet. Peau magazine is dedicated to the beauty and landscape of the human form.

This issue we include the seasoned professional photographers and artists as well as people just starting out.

This issue includes the highly colorful work of experienced photographer Michael Mc Gowan who adorns the front cover and Stan Freedman, Robert Morris who are just beginning their journey.

Rickard Unge joins us from Sweden with his black & white figure studies of male dancers including gracing our rear cover. We discovered  the photomontage work of Jeffery Fletcher with his haunting series of females in nature describing his complicated developing process.

Carney Malone with his black & white studies of female nudes wearing only Gas Masks over their faces has a couple of different books in print, see the Blurb link here. Lastly we have another photographer Bruce Taylor, Pd.D who joins us from model society.

Print and free digital copies are available for sale  here

We are working on the summer issue now and accepting submissions, contact me at jeneyouttphoto@gmail.com for a submission form or to answer any questions you my have.

peau copies 0344 copy

Our first issue ( on the right) had Jack Cutler’s image on the front cover along with his Clandestine Exhibitions from his personal fine art photographic images. Next came my wife Mary Durante Youtt nude studies, Peter Le Grand, Jeffrey Dutton, Alexey Kashpersky, and a few of my images.

We hope you will enjoy our endeavor and support or collaboration by buying copies and commenting on our Facebook page.

Thank you

Jene

I shoot them as they come to me, thank goodness they are all different

March 6, 2016

and that’s not a bad thing. But as I get older things, names and words  temporary vanish from my mind.

I almost missed this shoot due to not keeping my phone calendar up to date. my wife brought me the phone with all these text messages ‘I’am on my way’ and ‘ I’am almost there’………… holy smokes i called her right away saying i had forgotten about it. i was 30 to 45 minutes away and couldn’t get in using mass transportation but Mary and i have had ‘no shows’ and know how it feels. Mary drove me into city in 30 minutes. Where are you? waiting in a bar down the block she said, it was very cold out and reading her bio below i knew she was cut from a different cloth.

My Name

I GUESS YOU ARE KIND OF CURIOUS as to who I am, but I am one of those who do not have a regular name. My name depends on you. Just call me whatever is in your mind.
If you are thinking about something that happened a long time ago: Somebody asked you a question and you did not know the answer.
That is my name.
Perhaps it was raining very hard.
That is my name.
Or somebody wanted you to do something. You did it. Then they told you what you did was wrong—”Sorry for the mis¬take,”—and you had to do something else.
That is my name.
Perhaps it was a game that you played when you were a child or something that came idly into your mind when you were old and sitting in a chair near the window.
That is my name.
Or you walked someplace. There were flowers all around.
That is my name.
Perhaps you stared into a river. There was somebody near you who loved you. They were about to touch you. You could feel this before it happened. Then it happened.
That is my name.

Britteny kind of hippy like but hey I was one of the original hippies. Her Model Mayhem link is 5340850.

the studio was a shambles nothing set up but thank goodness most of the lighting hangs from a grid. but I had no idea what to shot with her nor who she really was. I haven’t figured how to connect my IPhone to Model Mayhem. What a klutz. She did save my butt by pulling this outfit from her bag.

_MG_0401

So we begin, well actually she brought her outfit going to another shoot after mine, once dressed she began poseing here and there one after another .

_MG_0445

She was a pro at this because to tell you the truth I was unprepared. Usually I have some prevision of what I want to shoot with each model. That doesn’t mean  that’s where the shoot winds up going but at least that’s where I think it will go. This was a pleasant surprise because on the ride to studio I didn’t have a clue who she was, Ok just wing it.

_MG_0489

I gave her one of my jackets because she said she was cold, it must have been in the twenties outside, but I though the semi coolness of the studio kept her nipples erect which I think is preferable. Somehow the jacket kept slipping off her. Maybe she wasn’t so cold after all._MG_0490

But I must say she gave me a full days shoot in a couple hours. I like to try different things with each person, so after going to the closet once she picked out this outfit

_MG_0475

Which got reported on Facebook as inappropriate  because you can see a little bit of her pubic hair whoa they got good eyes. I guess I should have used this image below , oh well

_MG_0479fuzzyfbs

There is such a slight difference here my old eyes didn’t catch it. We bought this outfit years ago at a clothing store next to an art gallery we had a showing in.

face 0457fuzzy

Obliviously she wasn’t shy but she also wasn’t into doing spread shots nude.

_MG_0463

so we got these two shots this one with more attitude but getting the background under control wasn’t easy.Lots of blur filter making her the object of attention.wtf 0458

We had agreed that she was willing to do some bondage/rope work which seems to be a phase I am in these days.

couch 0693 fuzzy

I don’t think what I do is S&M but it does add a little kick for me over regular nudes.

_MG_0557

_MG_0562

There is something about the texture of the rope against the skin I like. We didn’t have time to let the rope patterns set into the skin as I originally wanted. Do we ever get all we want?

_MG_0625-2

So all things must come to an end as I untie her and she gets dressed for her next foray into the cold cold world. We are not doing a brain surgery tutorial just playing around with things, hopefully making things a bit more interesting. As I say I never know who will walk through my door nor what I’ll walk away with.

So it is as she headed to her next shoot and I straightened the studio, then on to editing. She didn’t respond when I sent her some images . I guess she didn’t need them.

Frustrating day searching for

July 15, 2015

For years now I’ve been searching for an adapter for my Contax Nx lenses. I’ve two Zeiss lenses a 50m Planar 1.4 and a Vario Sonnar T 28-80 both of which I really love. Most people do.

I’ve bought Fotodiox adapters from Amazon that didn’t fit the lenses but went on my Canon Eos 5D mark ll camera fine. I contacted them and they said I needed a N adapter which they no longed made or had. I searched the internet again and came up with a hit at Adorama camera and one on Ebay for a few dollars difference.

I knew i had to go down to Adorama and give this a try. We tried three adapters beginning with the supposedly Kipon Canon Len mount adapter from Contax N to Canon Eos M Body (with aperture ring). None of them worked. WTF

The salesman was quite nice and knowledgable but the first one was too young to know what I was looking for, it’s an age thing.

so i’ve repacked my lenses and camera in bubble wrap and put them away. the question is do i want to shoot film again then go through the time and hassle of scanning it into computer?

the Zeiss lens are incredibly sharp all the way through and even giving up auto focus it might improve my pictures. on the other hand guess i would have to rename this blog to something more germane.

oh well

A new interest, yes it’s still nude photography

July 13, 2015

Looking at my last posting of the nude male i began to see something that was there or i wouldn’t have taken the pictures but it wasn’t bell ringing enough to get my attention. I don’t know about you but i get bored taking the same pictures all the time. if i had chosen to be a headshot guy i probably would have taken a Brodie off the Brooklyn bridge by now. I guess some find it an interesting art form and go on to perfect it.

One of the reasons I’ve not been a bigger successful photographer or other professional is I get bored beyond bejesus doing the same thing over and over. But i try and keep my eyes open and head down, you just never know what will hit you and somethings can hit pretty hard and leave scars.

I like to experiment a lot also, as a kid i would wonder what would happen if i do this? I didn’t burn the house down but came close twice.  See I didn’t learn the first time, most kids would learn their lesson but not me. I think i am getting smarter in my golden years but……………………………………..

As i write today I am listening to a two cd set of Edith Piaf ‘LA vie en rose’ just to keep me company. oh when i was a young man living in New York she was suppose to come sing in a theater here and my group of misfits was thrilled that we might be able to see her in person. but she died before getting here.

But this is about my life now and i’ve chosen to spend a lot of time photographing things. What I saw while editing the last session were HANDS.

Hands

Hands

Hands are important, my hands are a key to me because I express myself through them as i touch the world. I looked through some files on my HD looking for hands and found these.

woman's hands

woman’s hands

above are some pretty strong images, long painted fingernails and big veins while below are mens hands

fist

different mens hands but holding on to something. what do women hold on to?

male nude in chair

male nude in chair

so i asked a female model i’ve worked with before if she was interested in experimenting , she said ‘yes.’

_MG_1190 copy

womans hands

now what do women hold, i guess it could be anything lipstick, hair brush, frying pan maybe not this time.

hands

hands

and so we continue working around the studio. which brings me to where i get lost sometimes, maybe we all do but i get so concentrated on the photo i lose track of what the set or a particular photo is saying.

blue satin

blue satin

in my enthusiasm, which reminds me of the first photo shoot i did with my dog as a kid. the family had an old kodak box camera Brownie No 2  it was called. ginger and i were playing in the back yard and i knew enough how to press the shutter button. pose snap we went. i was very excited to see the pictures when they were developed. what i hadn’t learned as yet was to advance the roll of film after exposure.

red on blue

red on blue

as you can see now, with my modern day camera, that is all taken care of now. giving me time to fool around posing model and experimenting with lighting. but the question is am i still on track  with my discovery of hands.

oh my

oh my

and just to show the ending image but not the image that got me lost i asked her to place her hand on her mound of venus to hide her crotch but made her look as if she was masturbating with her mouth open. i was more concerned with the lighting and wrinkles in the fabric to see the overall effect, even in the editing.

redhead nude on blue satin

redhead nude on blue satin

and so we leave this redheaded nude woman lying on the sea of blue satin behind in our ever ongoing quest of a more perfect picture i wonder what history will say or care? thank you for visiting.

New work, male nude, ode to old master painters.

June 28, 2015

Yes as it says i went back in the studio after meeting this fellow you never know what’s going to happen , at least i don’t. i am sure there are a million togs out there who know everything about their camera settings and what adjustments will effect what and how so. me it’s a crap shoot.

I do know lighting so that is a plus and just learning model direction but i am still shy about that, why? –  guess it was the way i was raised. Not to say i haven’t learned a few things pushing the shutter button as often as i have. i am not stupid, i just act that way sometimes.

Warning there is male nudity here which might be offensive to some while others might be looking for it.

I hope my readers aren’t offended by this but this is what i seem to do best, studio lighting, just learning other stuff.

Hands

Hands

While the model was willing to pose naked he wasn’t that interested in have his name or face posted on the internet which isn’t a problem for me.

male nude sitting

male nude sitting

so i began to feature his hands because most people don’t know what to do with them during a photography session so why not begin there. he’s not an experienced model just has a nice body. Looking through the images these reminded me of some of the landscape images i got in Antelope Valley slot canyons see my photo shelter web site

hands on knees

hands on knees

Because of the time of day and the heat temperature in studio i shot these using my White lightning strobes, this image is just one downlight.

male midsection

male nude torso

below is one of the images he thinks is beautiful. yes it does show his body which is what he was interested in doing.

male nude torso

male nude torso

now these are just quick picks of the raw files nothing much done to them, made some levels adjustments. i get tired of shooting the same things over and over so i move on. I showed a print of another fellow i shot years ago. he liked it so i dug around pulling out a piece of wrinkled fabric, here thry this on.

draped nude male

‘what do i do?’  he asked. just move around feel the fabric i answered.

you can see he has a nice body and deep set eyes which worked for me and my lighting style. i decided to try something different since this black fabric poked out when pulling the other fabric from the box.

I will end this post with my all time favorite image not to say the other images aren’t good and all my little darlings this one was developed in camera as i knew what I was going for.

Both of whom we have seen as paintings in person while traveling in Europe. the above image reminds me of one of Rembrandt’s self portraits.

These paintings Rembrandt’s and Caravaggio’s are so awe inspiring to me which i’ve always had a hard time thinking my work might be. but at this point in my life maybe i can hit one out every once in a while.

Heading north

February 9, 2015

this was meant to finish up this series which i meant to do from the beaches of Hawaii where we were vacationing last month but there are so many distractions in paradise that i never had the time. no we didn’t take many pictures chased the elusive Green Turtles but the water was rough and full of sharks. did manage to get some surfers but they are a dime a dozen out there.

last post ended with the grand canyon with our next destination being Page Az. home to the slot canyons. one of the things we learned there besides how poor the Navajo’s who live on the reservation are kept. there is a huge power plant powered by Lake Powell dam on the reservation with not one watt going to the Navajo but sent out into the white world keeping the Navajo in the dark which maybe why they are up before dawn.

the internet has changed the economy for some of these people especially the slots. they now have a steady stream of visitors 11 months out of the year with december being the slow month. yes it does get cold out there so be prepared if you go. we booked a photographic tour of the upper antelope valley with a Navajo company called Chief Tsosie, there are two tours by different companies the lower canyon and upper we chose the upper. dumb luck maybe if we go back we can do both.

Antelope valley slot canyon

Antelope valley slot canyon

we were lucky to have only one other couple on our tour and our guide was very helpful moving us around to get the best possible pictures. but we had to shoot above other peoples heads mostly. we went in the afternoon which i am sure is different than the morning.

no matter what time of day it’s pretty specutular just being there.

Slot canyon floor to ceiling

the other photographer couple with us were very fussy brushing off their lenses, yes dusty for sure. we only had a two hour time slot with about half that in the canyon. we were fighting people time and light. i shot as fast and as wide open as i could sometimes just going 2.8. the other tog said his auto focus wasn’t working, where do you focus?

we were lucky to find lodging in a motel 6 at $156 per night in a smoking room, but could open the window giving us a nice view of this sunset.

beware the national parks are full of bus tour people so our end of season camping ideas were squashed. heading north to Zion and Bryce canyons there were no rooms in the inns nor campgrounds. but i found a state campground called Coral Pink Sand  Dunes in the south of Utah close enough to drive to Zion National park and Bryce.

yes this is how we planned to travel not having to check into motels to shower but this state park had very nice hot water showers.

if one can’t find national parks to stay in look for state parks as sometimes they are just as good if not better.

So here we are entering Utah where i’ve never been but have heard so much about with Zion national park as our first destination.

yes a pretty cool place to be and not too crowded but not empty. bus loads of tourists come into these parks from as far away as Los Angeles and Las Vegas along with other major cities. that’s why if one is traveling to our parks one must have advance reservations or will fine no room at the Inns. people come from all over the world to see our amazing country.

we did two days at Zion before moving on up the road to Bryce National park. we didn’t expect to stay in the park although we tried looking on line but found nothing. we found a place just outside the park called Ruby’s Inn a huge RV camping site with tent camping. but they did have something different, 8 authentic Teepees along side the road. of course we had to try them.

we did have a wonderful dinner at the Bryce canyon lodge inside the park another well managed dinning room with excellent food and service.

as life happens it did rain one night and teepees aren’t waterproof, leaking in the center, the floor was covered with canvas so no fires inside but lots of water around us.

what we had to do in order to keep dry was to erect our tent in the middle of the teepee and put our sleeping bag in the tent. this is were life threw us a curve ball. our air mattress wouldn’t inflate. something happened to the battery case and nothing i did seemed to fix it and a slow leak in the mattress didn’t make for a comfortable nights sleep.ugh

we did manage to hold out but soon wanted to continue on and get a good nights sleep. mary did try to keep a diary at night by the light of our coleman lantern.

the weather wasn’t ideal for pictures going from overcast to partly cloudy but we were there so we made the best of it. we were tired of being on the road by now but continued anyways.

one may walk a few mile trail amongst the Hoodoos, as the ancients called them but i wasn’t feeling up to it then which i now regret. we were chasing something different but probably should have stayed another day of so just the be able to walk around these formations.

next was going to be a big jump for us to wyoming and  Yellowstone National park being our next destination but on check out i asked about the Aspens turning and was told to go down this road over a mountain which was in full  bloom. ah but that’s another post. tune in again for the conclusion of our incredible journey.
